Thanks, Trompo! Glad to see that % is already an option for road slopes.

Looking forward to the release of version 11 for the zoom on each climb. As I mentioned, the beta features significantly improve the experience for cycling.

I actually purchased OruxMaps GP when climb segments were introduced (before that, I was using Jepster, which includes that feature). So @Orux, listen to your users! I'm certain many others appreciate this as much as I do. Please release v11!  ;)

The beta version has been updated, the forum has been fixed (messaging wasn't working), as well as the registration process, and a few other things :)

Helo Orux!!
Beta9 we go back to work :) and we leave stories. There are changes in the search for online pois, very interesting. If I have checked the save searches box and the dynamic search box. When returning to the map and exceeding the search range previously established when doing the search, a new automatic search should be done, right?

¡Hola José!
With the previous versions of Oruxmaps I could search for an address. With the new version I can only search for pois.
The search for pois I do only with the poi-data provided by osm. To plan my tours at home or to find a town I want to zoom in fast, I used the online-search. This no longer works.
Please give me back this search-option.
Thank you

Yes, this is the expected behavior; until you remove the added layer from the map, it should search if you move the map.

If you select Google search engine (top-right button) then you can search by address, like in old versions,

Quote from: Modo on May 26, 2025, 05:27:20 PMSomething happened to Strava that makes it impossible to log in for automatic track uploads. After entering my email address, the Strava login page shows a generic error, and asks to try again. Checking on my PC, the same thing happened when I tried logging in with my ad blocker enabled. It was cleared up by temporarily disabling ad blocking.

Same for me. Steps:

  • Integration > Strava > Login Strava
  • Email
  • Log In
  • An unexpected error occurred. Please try again.

Maybe one has to update the web view or a Strava library or similar?

Yes, it is not working, I need to change the login process in next version,

Thanks,

Hello José,

Thank you for your excellent work on OruxMaps — the app is incredibly powerful, and I really appreciate the huge number of available settings. I use it regularly for running, hiking, and cycling.

I would like to ask whether it might be possible to add a feature similar to ClimbPro, showing upcoming climbs during an activity (remaining distance, gradient, profile, etc.) in real time, even without loading and following a GPX file. I already use DEM data and the ascent analysis performed when importing a GPX track, but having automatic climb detection during live activities would be extremely useful.

Additionally, would it be possible to implement automatic speed calibration for running using an ANT+ speed sensor? My sensor is correctly detected by OruxMaps, but the speed is not calibrated accurately. Automatic calibration—similar to what Garmin devices offer—would greatly improve running accuracy.

I will also test the latest beta version to see how the new features evolve.

Thank you again for your work and your time.

Why are you making a beta version when you have a GP version that you're talking about that doesn't have any issues? In your opinion, isn't the GP version a perfect version with absolutely no bugs?

[/cita]

Hello, OruxMaps offers a function equivalent to climbpro "climber sections" currently not available in the GP version but you can try it in the beta version. In the case of OruxMaps this function is conditioned to follow a track to be able to give the information of the ascents. The case of Garmin is different, it does not need to follow a track because the information of the ascents is implemented on the map, Garmin has a database of the ascent sections made by its users that it incorporates into its maps that are then activated according to the proximity and direction of the GPS. I encourage you to try the function in the beta version it works very well, I leave you here a small guide on its use and configuration https://tronpoonpo.blogspot.com/2024/10/tramos-del-escalador_26.html

[/cita]

Hello, in the OruxMaps introduction screens it says directly "oruxmapas is not perfect" and I have not read anywhere that it is. The GP version works "correctly" and obviously has failures, that's why the beta version exists, some failures of the GP version were reported and these beta versions have been corrected and tested by the testers for a next update. Beta versions not only exist for errors, new functions, libraries and Android updates are also tested, beta versions are very important in any app in my opinion

Hello Orux!! It is necessary to update the mapsforge libraries for the correct operation of some themes in the representation of osmc icons for example. Also the mapsforge vtm libraries, the latest version of these supports mapsforge shading. Mapsforge 0.27 in both cases

Hello José,

Thank you for your quick answer and the link to the tutorial, it is very useful and I will do some more testing. According to your reply, "Garmin has a database of climbs made by its users, which it integrates into its maps, which are then activated based on proximity and GPS direction."

In the "climber" section, we can already modify the "ascent" section, rename it, and save it in the GPX file, which is great.

Would it also be possible, using your climb editing tool, to manually save climb sections in a special directory in GPX, XML, or database format in order to create our own climb section database and be able to display our favorite climb sections when we are not in track or route tracking mode? For my part, I had manually created a large GPX file some time ago with my favorite climbing sections, and I can load it into Oruxmaps and see all the climbing segments drawn on the maps + the description/name such as "+50m D 1.05k P 4.7%," Unfortunately, when I enter a climbing section, the special climbing screen does not appear. Below is a small extract from my climbing section file:<trk>
    <name>+50m D 1.05k P 4.7%</name><desc>+50m D 1.05k P 4.7%</desc>
    <trkseg>
      <trkpt lat="XXX" lon="xXXX">
        <ele>134</ele>
      </trkpt>
      <trkpt lat="XXX" lon="XXX">
        <ele>135</ele>
      </trkpt>
    </trkseg>
  </trk>
 <trk>
    <name>+64m D 1.62k P 4%</name><desc>+64m D 1.62k P 4%</desc>
    <trkseg>
      <trkpt lat="XXX" lon="xXXX">
        <ele>134</ele>
      </trkpt>
      <trkpt lat="XXX" lon="XXX">
        <ele>135</ele>
      </trkpt>
    </trkseg>
  </trk>

Thank you.

Hello!! I'm not José, just one more user like you. I have several improvement ideas also for the climber function, but I don't want to delay the GP update any longer hahaha so I'll save them for the future. Greetings TroNpo :)
