The more I use Oruxmaps, the more I like it. However, a very small improvement would greatly increase its potential: an "express location sharing" icon for the submenu that opens when you press and hold. Clicking on this icon would start a location sharing by clicking on a user-defined url to access gmaps, nomatim or any other site such as an http server under termux.

Currently I am launching such a server to retrieve data from various external sites(wikipedia, booking, rome2rio,...) but by 2 clicks and the display of an intermediate menu, ONE click would be a real plus.
Best regards

Hello if I don't misunderstand your suggestion, this is already possible in OruxMaps GP
You can set up Intents, for many uses.
Best regards.

Hello, yes I know this feature and it's very good, but it requires too many clicks for my taste. An elegant solution would be to create a button that can be added to the sidebar and that launches the default intent.
So by centering my map on a place and with a single click I can launch the custom url that I would have defined in the default intent and which gives me access to external sites (wikipedia, weather,...).
Best regards

Saludos cordiales [/cita]
Hello, there is already a position sharing button on the side button, the app remembers the last option used, this reduces the consultation operations to 2 clicks

Fetnat

Hello,
Thank you for your quick response. I do use this button and launch my URL in two clicks. However, I create Mapsforge maps for friends who are simple users with no experience.
Seeing a window appear with several options confuses them. The one-click option, without an intermediate window, would be a real simplification.
In the same vein, I create a POI database with Mapsforge. Clicking on a POI on the map displays a tooltip with the name. Clicking on the tooltip opens a waypoint-type window in which I have created a link to a PWA giving access to additional information (Wikipedia, weather, etc.). Again, this requires two clicks and an intermediate window with numerous buttons.
According to my tests, it is not possible to put an HTML anchor directly in the name (for example: name=<a href="https://www.cathedrale-strasbourg.fr/?ved=2ahUKEwjd5vLQ1eCQAxUAU6QEHT2HMK8QgU96BAhQEAQ"> Strasbourg Cathedral </a>). If this were possible, it would open up endless possibilities, such as directly accessing a museum or hotel using the URL of its website in the OSM attributes.
I have been using Oruxmaps for many years. It is perfect and highly configurable, but in my experience, it is often difficult for novices to get to grips with, so any automation is welcome.
Best regards

He estado usando Oruxmaps durante muchos años.
In the case of the pois I'm not sure but here the limitations are marked by the mapsforge search engine I'm not sure if the app can do something about it.

This may also interest you, it is not for basic users, seeing that you have quite a lot of knowledge you can use the legend button to share your position to a URL as if it were an intents which will give you a single click.
You can give a URL to mapsforge themes "as a link to a fake legend" for online maps you can do the same by editing in the onlinemapsources.xml, this way you launch your URLs with the legend button on the button panel.
Best regards.

Fetnat

Hello, thank you for your reply,.... but, but I use this button for my own legend. So I tried the technique on the default mapsforge style legend and it works very well. Unfortunately, you can't put two legend buttons on the interface.
If in a future version it were possible to add a similar button, that would be great.
Also, if the tooltip that opens when you click on a waypoint could interpret HTML, that would be great.
To simplify the configuration of oruxmaps for my friends, I created a profile that I distribute to them with the maps and styles in a zip file that they just need to unzip to update everything. Hence my latest idea: to include ALL possible settings in the profile.
I realize that this is a lot to ask, but please keep these requests in mind for future or upcoming versions ;-)
Best regards
