Hello Orux and DevTeam,
I would like to buy the new version 11.xx, but on the Google Play I cannot get/find it.
Can you help me about?
Thanks and regards, Andrea

Hello @Explorer, I am having the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S21 (Android 15).

Hello have you tried an installation from scratch ?
Best regards
For discarding an error when updating.

Hello Tronpo and Orux, no, I didn't try a new installation from scratch. But, today the app is running fine.
I don't know what could happen in these days to fix the problem, but I can guarantee I didn't do anything. I just did normal phone maintenance and applications updating as available.
So, concluding, I do not know what was blocking at the time.
Thanks for your support.
Regards, Andrea

Hello Orux,
The new beta 11.0.2Beta2 does not work on my Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G.
I upgraded today my Samsung from the old 11.0.0Beta10. Apparently the upgrade went smooth, but then at the first test, I am having at least these 2 blocking problems:
1) Barometric altimeter cannot be calibrated
2) GPS position is not achieved
Therefore, as-is, the application is totaly unusable.

Kindly be aware that in May the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G received a major OS upgrade, moving to Android 15 and One UI 7.0.

All the best, Andrea

About VTM with Garmin vector maps (made from OpneMtbMaps) using the last Beta 4.

Hello Orux, it may be I have not understood the usage of the VTM option.

I enabled it (VTM map viewer), but I cannot see any difference in the rendering of the Garmin vector maps.

Am I missing something?

Kind regards, Andrea

With some online maps (including OpenStreetMaps) sometimes the server sends black tiles instead of the real ones, instead of returning an error message. The app does not know that they are erroneous tiles, and stores them in the cache.

Go to Maps-->refresh tiles and delete the map tiles you are using to generate the thumbnails from the cache.

Then try to generate the thumbnails again.

Hello Orux, thanks for your further support, but even this time, no way to have that recorded trace with a good thumbnail.

By the way, in the pure spirit of cooperation and honest feedback, I have to report to you the following:
1) Since my first use of your app (2 years ago or so), I never understood why a so complex menu and why 2 or 3 entries for the same topic (like traces, waypoints and maps).
2) Why traces, waypoints and maps have i) a page entry with their name, ii) another page entry with their icon, and iii) another page entry with the Gear-icon? I find all this confusing and if you do not use the app daily, you get lost every time.
3) Still today, I do not have understood how to set the "language" option for the full interface: I am still have some part in Italian, others in English and "probably" I also jumped over some line in Spanish (no problem, I can read Spanish as well). Is there the option to set the language? Where?

In my opinion, you should consider to redesign the menu and the tons of configuration options following more a human centric approach (simpler menu, fewer options....)

Thanks and regards, Andrea

I'm not sure what could be the problem on your phone.

Go to settings-->Tracks-->map for thumbnails, and select OpenStreetMap Mapnik (we know this map should work).

Then go to the properties of a track-->statistics-->click on the thumbnail and accept to update it.

orux

Hello Orux, I am sorry, I followed your instruction but nothing happened.
I am still having this "horrible" picture (see attachment) instead of the effective recorded trace thumbnail.

Please, kindly tell me how to change the interface language, so that I will retry again the process.
Just for your info, in my Italian interface the "thumbanil update button" is labeled as "Ricarica le miniature della traccia".
Do you confirm is this it?

Thanks and regards,
Andrea

Hello Orux, also with Beta3, I am having the same problem.
I cannot reload/re-create the trace thumbnail.

Would you kindly tell me which should be the correct process with this new 9.4.x version?

I am now doubting I am doing something wrong

Regards, Andrea

I think it is working fine.
If you have selected a custom map for that in Tracks settings-->Map for thumbnails, check that the map is working fine.

orux

I use default map settings.
And it is not only about the map data, it is the overall trace not rendered appropriately.

I mean, I made a hike having a loop shape, but the thumb image is showing a line.

Please, remove the 500kB limits and I will upload the screenshots.

Regards, Andrea

Hello Orux,
Eveb with beta2 I cannot recreate/correct wrong course thumbs...
Regards

Hello Orux,

it looks that in this beta the "re-creation / re-generation of thumbnails" doesn't work at all.

Please let me know if there is a new option now.

Regards, Andrea

PS: I have screenshots to show you, but I cannot upload due to the 500kB limitation

Try it now, with the last beta version,

orux

Hello Orux, new beta7
1) Good fix for the Track_xxx.gpx problem. No more that problem.
2) But not resolving the GPX file association yet. I still have manually and each time to select Oruxmaps app for opening GPX file even if I select "always" the first time and following
Regards, Andrea

Hello!
Sorry, but with Android 10 the migration to the private folders is not done, and when you select in OruxMaps to load a gpx/kml, the app uses its own file browser. There should be no problem opening files from any location.
Maybe you can send me a video about what we are talking about,

orux

Hello Orux, I don't know how to take a video / copy of my phone screen.

Can you give me directions?
Regards, Andrea

Now the app has no access to the files; the apps that share one with OruxMaps do not send a link to the file, they send the content, with certain metadata (extension, type,...). That's why the app copies it to the tracks folder, to work with it.

The app creates this file if the app that sends the gpx to OruxMaps does not specify the name of the file, only the content. Have you tried opening the gpx with another manager, from Drive,...?

orux

Hello Orux, I have both problems even if the source GPX file is in the tracklogs folder

Each time I open a GPX (even from the oruxmaps tracklog folder), the app association does not work (I have to manually select oruxmaps app for opening) and a new Track_xxx.gpx file is created.

And this happens again also reopening the same GPX file more times... New Track_xxx.gpx are created...

Regards, Andrea

Hello Orux, last Beta5 I can install, but both my problems not fixed at all:
1) Track_xxxx.gpx
2) GPX file not associated by default and all the times I have to select the app manually
Regards, Andrea

Ps: my phone is Huawei Nova5T with Android 10
