Hello everybody,
Do you know if there has been an update regarding this topic perhaps I did not activate the good options in the last version? I've tried several settings with BRouter, but unfortunately, the recalculated routes sometimes send me onto gravel paths instead of paved roads. I ride a pure road bike.
My main issue happens during a ride: I'll often decide on the fly to detour slightly from my planned route—for instance, to tackle an extra climb—and then head back toward the original track.
Unfortunately, as soon as I deviate, BRouter recalculates a completely new route or path. Even when I manually cycle back and physically rejoin my original road, the navigation fails to snap back to it.
I know there is a "Redirect route" option, but it only recalculates a brand new itinerary all the way to the final destination. My original track is still visible on the screen (colored in black) that is good to have it  :) , so the app hasn't forgotten it. I just want a way for the navigation to pick up where I left off once I return to the original route.
My current setup is:
I load a GPX file, choose the 'Follow Route' option, and under the recording options, I select 'Start New Track'."
• BRouter Profile: fastbike-lowtraffic
• Configuration: Server Mode bound to bicycle-fast
Does anyone have a workaround or specific settings to force OruxMaps/BRouter to simply guide me back to the nearest point of my original track?
Thanks in advance!

Hello Tronpo,
Thank you for the tip I will try on the next ride. :D

Hello everyone,

I use GPX tracks that can start at different locations.
These tracks don't contain any waypoints, only a start point and an end point, and the start point is not important for me.

When I load a GPX file in OruxMaps, I go to:
Options → Loaded route → More,
then I check Follow route + Route alarm, and in the recording options I select Start new track.

The app correctly calculates a route to reach the starting point of the track, which works fine, but that's not what I want.
For example, I would like to join the track at kilometer 5, without ever going through the official starting point.

Right now, with the route alarm enabled, OruxMaps keeps warning me that I'm off the route (which makes sense, since I'm heading toward km 5 using a different road).
It keeps trying to adjust the route, but without success.

So my question is:
Is there an option that warns me only once that I'm off the route, lets me ignore that warning, and then automatically detects when I join the track again, no matter where?
(Keeping in mind that the track may pass through the same place on the outbound and return sections.)

I enable route following from the beginning because, in my example, I only need notifications after kilometer 5 if I take a wrong turn.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Orux,

I use Orux a lot for cycling, and I also have a Garmin Varia RTL515 radar. At the moment, I need to use a dedicated smartphone with the Garmin app to access the radar features.My smartphone is equipped with ANT+ and Bluetooth technology.

Some bike computers can read radar data from different brands and display the information. Do you think it would be possible to add this functionality to Orux as well? For beginning just an alert signal with a sound if there is vehicule and another sound the end of the alert would be enought.Of course, if that's possible and if other members are interested?

Best regards.

Hello everyone,

Quick question: I went for a ride using a GPX file with route tracking and the option to track uphill segments enabled. Everything worked perfectly until I took a detour of a few kilometers. The app then calculated a new route, probably using Brouter, but once I was back on the main road, the uphill segments no longer appeared. Did I configure something incorrectly? Should I disable the automatic route search option, or is it mandatory to always follow the GPX file since the app knows the exact number of uphill segments? Thanks in advance.

Best regards.

Hello José,

Thank you for your quick answer and the link to the tutorial, it is very useful and I will do some more testing. According to your reply, "Garmin has a database of climbs made by its users, which it integrates into its maps, which are then activated based on proximity and GPS direction."

In the "climber" section, we can already modify the "ascent" section, rename it, and save it in the GPX file, which is great.

Would it also be possible, using your climb editing tool, to manually save climb sections in a special directory in GPX, XML, or database format in order to create our own climb section database and be able to display our favorite climb sections when we are not in track or route tracking mode? For my part, I had manually created a large GPX file some time ago with my favorite climbing sections, and I can load it into Oruxmaps and see all the climbing segments drawn on the maps + the description/name such as "+50m D 1.05k P 4.7%," Unfortunately, when I enter a climbing section, the special climbing screen does not appear. Below is a small extract from my climbing section file:<trk>
    <name>+50m D 1.05k P 4.7%</name><desc>+50m D 1.05k P 4.7%</desc>
    <trkseg>
      <trkpt lat="XXX" lon="xXXX">
        <ele>134</ele>
      </trkpt>
      <trkpt lat="XXX" lon="XXX">
        <ele>135</ele>
      </trkpt>
    </trkseg>
  </trk>
 <trk>
    <name>+64m D 1.62k P 4%</name><desc>+64m D 1.62k P 4%</desc>
    <trkseg>
      <trkpt lat="XXX" lon="xXXX">
        <ele>134</ele>
      </trkpt>
      <trkpt lat="XXX" lon="XXX">
        <ele>135</ele>
      </trkpt>
    </trkseg>
  </trk>

Thank you.

Hello José,

Thank you for your excellent work on OruxMaps — the app is incredibly powerful, and I really appreciate the huge number of available settings. I use it regularly for running, hiking, and cycling.

I would like to ask whether it might be possible to add a feature similar to ClimbPro, showing upcoming climbs during an activity (remaining distance, gradient, profile, etc.) in real time, even without loading and following a GPX file. I already use DEM data and the ascent analysis performed when importing a GPX track, but having automatic climb detection during live activities would be extremely useful.

Additionally, would it be possible to implement automatic speed calibration for running using an ANT+ speed sensor? My sensor is correctly detected by OruxMaps, but the speed is not calibrated accurately. Automatic calibration—similar to what Garmin devices offer—would greatly improve running accuracy.

I will also test the latest beta version to see how the new features evolve.

Thank you again for your work and your time.

Dear all,

First of all, I'd like to thank you for your wonderful Oruxmaps application, which I've been using for many years in various sports, such as walking, running and cycling.
It's wonderful, you can customize everything as you like, and I encourage you to continue.
I don't know if my question is in the right topic, sorry if it isn't.
I bought an ANT+ beurer digital box and paired it as a pedometer with Orux. I set up an ANT+ speed field to see my speed in real time.
Unfortunately, the sensor is not properly calibrated. If I'm walking, the calibration isn't so bad, but when I'm running, it's not accurate.
The official way to calibrate it is to buy a Beurer watch and use the sensor with it.
To get around the problem, I paired it with a Garmin watch as a Foot pod and discovered that there is a "Calibration Factor" setting.
This parameter can be set manually and, what's more, it can be calibrated automatically and continuously, so my speed is very accurate.
It seems that the automatic calibration is based on GPS distance, I don't know if the calibration factor is updated every km (if GPS satellites are accessible, which is sometimes difficult in the woods).
The question is: would is be possible to add a field to enter a calibration factor value for an ANT+ foot?
If so, would it be possible to add another parameter with a distance to update the auto-calibration dynamically (every 100m every 1KM ???)

Thank you at the Orux Team.

sportingly. :)
