I've developed a very early version of OruxMaps for iOS.
It's still in its infancy, and it was fairly easy to upload to the App Store. I hope it continues to evolve, if there's interest in it, of course ;)
Don't be too hard on it; it's bound to have bugs, which we'll fix step by step.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please email the developer directly, or contact me here. I'll try to keep an eye on them.

An advanced beta version is now available on Testflight.

I have the slight suspicion that Google really pissed you off... :-)
No iOS devices around here unfortunately, so I cannot try it. From the screenshots looks like it uses the unified interface, by any chance did you keep the classic one too?
i tried it on iPhone.
The map download/install buttons from OpenAndromaps website ("Android Install on:") for the maps work fine.
Offline maps can be selected.
First i was missing the Elevate style to select, found no way to install it sepereatly.
But after a restart, Elevate was available for selection.
Good start for iOS users.

No entendí bien , Elevate se descargo solo directamente al descargar el mapa ?
Is this public for all the world? If I do a search on the italian App store it isn't shown
https://www.apple.com/it/search/oruxmaps?src=serp (https://www.apple.com/it/search/oruxmaps?src=serp)
but if I tweak the URL chenging "it" to "es" it works
hi
thank you for this app. I've been waiting for it for so long on my iPhone. I have a problem though. I've downloaded it from the App Store and when I open it I get this error:
FormatException : Unexpected character
(at line 1019 character 57)
see attached screenshot for details. iPhone 12 with iOS 18.5
any chance to fix this?

Well, I'm pretty disappointed with Google...
But I'd been working on the iOS version for years; it was a new challenge. And with my hesitation about releasing the next version on Google Play, and my fear of an avalanche of issues, it's helped me find the time to give that version a little push :)
I will add the top menus, like in Android version, if people like it. As always, users order and I program :)

pls add top menues as in Android version. :)
Have friends with iPhones and when i show them my OruxMaps on Android, with it's richness of features, they love it.

As I said above I don't have iOS devices around, I'm contemplating in iPad but I never decide, maybe in late summer/autumn... So I'd feel guilty pushing you to spend time on something I don't even use yet. Also I honestly think that four interfaces (beginner, base, complete-unified, complete-classic) in one app is three too much. I asked because of two reasons:
1) I can't stand the unified interface. Sorry to be that harsh, but I tried multiple times to adapt without success. It's not just a matter of habit, I think it's fundamentally flawed, it just takes me double the time and double the space to do anything. I see the limits of the classic interface, but overall it's still better.
2) The iOS app is named "Oruxmaps
+" and the blog post that introduces it talks about an Android version. So I was wondering if you are taking the Locus way, with the older classic version gradually superseded by a new "plus" version that gets rid of some legacy stuff to finally create a simpler and yet more powerful version. I like that idea, but I'm a bit afraid for the future of the Android version because that's not my concept of "simple".
I am so happy this is finally on IOS. I have been waiting for it for ages.
One question. I have an offline map in IMG format, but cannot figure out how to load it.
Is it even possible to load IMG files at the moment?

Hello!
It's no longer OruxMaps + :) It's now OruxMaps
It was causing problems with searches...
One of the options was to also make that version available on Android. OruxMaps has been on Android since its inception, since Android 0.9. This means that the changes to the SDKs have made its development somewhat more difficult (but not much).
But there's nothing like native development for each specific platform!
OruxMaps for Android will continue as is for now. Now I have to ride with the support for 16kb pages in the native libraries, which is somewhat complex when using very old C libraries for some things.
But we'll continue with OruxMaps GP as long as I have the strength!

Hello from France @all
I just saw that there was a section for questions regarding OruxMaps for iOS. So I'm putting my question back here since it is more suited to this section. Sorry, I apologize for this duplicate.
Here is my question :
I've been using OruxMaps (the paid version) on an Android for a long time, and it's really good. My question is this : is there a way to make the "onlinemapsources.xml" file work on an iphone (iOS) with of course the adapted version so OruxMaps for iOS ? The directories are not the same and a priori if you put it in the folder called maps on iOS, it does not work ? If anyone has a solution I'm interested. THANKS.

Hi,
I am sorry, but I did not understand if there was an answer to my question.
Is there a way to load an IMG file for an offline map on the IOS version?

Hello you can try the same as it is done on Android (I don't have ios) put your img map in the oruxmaps / mapfiles folder.
Go to the map list in the app, refresh the offline map list and check if it is
On Android all img are not supported, I don't know how it will go on ios.
Best regards
I have been looking for a good alternative to the old locus for android that will run on IOS and will allow decent offline maps like openandromaps. This does most things but what I noticed was that whilst it is happy with the latest v5.6 maps it doesn't like the latest version of elevate themes, you need to load the legacy version v5.2 (amongst other things the latest theme wouldn't show contours).
I'm still relatively new to OruxMaps so have many things to try on IOS and also try on android to compare.
Muchas gracias.
Thank you for bringing Oruxmaps to iOS!
I've been an occasional user on Android, although this is due mine being an old version that pre-dates the Play Store version. This particular use case was on a device that lacks service, no SIM card and is 100% offline so getting to the Play Store is difficult.
Oruxmaps being available on iOS solves occasional access to an app store. However a robust mapping app that can handle GeoPDF, Mapsforge and Garmin IMG offline files is still important since the device is often used where cell data is unreliable.
That brings up a feature that I do not seem to find in the iOS version.
Offline maps do not seem to seamlessly and automatically load. On the Android version as I travel or swipe across I am presented a list of maps available at a given location. This is very handy and would make Oruxmaps much more useful on iOS.
I have no issue displaying any of the GeoPDF and Mapsforge V5 maps I've tried on iOS. So it is a very promising option. The issue is only that when I load an offline file that is the only map shown regardless if that is my current location or not.

Hi!
This is a Oruxmaps Android user that now installed the App in iOS. I can no load the .img map. .mbtiles, .map, .pdf and .tif are only admited.
Is there a way to make this possible? Will there be a new version? Thanks in advance!

Hello, what version do you have? The latest version in Apple Store 0.0.19 reads: img. .map)mapsforge ) .mbtiles, .pdf and .tif Simply put the files in the MAPS folder and refresh the list of offline maps.
